What a great night we had at The Blockley Pourhouse!!! With the moderate face-lift the Blue Method has undergone with the addition of JOE TRUGLIO on drums and the [re]addition of LUKE O'REILLY on keys, nothing feels better than to have both new and old faces partying with us when we come back home!

Last Friday was one of our first shows in a good minute in a new venue, and your overwhelming support is greatly needed and above all APPRECIATED!! We thank you all for coming out and singing along, buying CD's, and DANCING EXTRA HARD like never before! We love it and it keeps us going!

In the midst of all the revamping, we are currently working on writing NEW MUSIC and changing our live show. What kinds of songs/covers/etc do you want to see more of from us? Oh, What a Night......

"WOW" pretty much sums up all of last night's show at the BLUE NOTE! Between an amazing vocal night by Brian, another stellar performance by our newest addition JOE TRUGLIO, and having the homie LUKE O'REILLY literally destroy the organ and all things keys....we couldn't have asked for a better time in the Big Apple. The place was packed, everybody was on their feet and in their seats grooving hard, and the energy from the crowd was nothing short of inspiring and out of this world! What an experience!

Each night we play a place like the Blue Note is quite an experience. Knowing the legendary performers that played and continue to play on that stage is quite humbling, and it's an honor to receive so much love and appreciation from new and old patrons alike. Energy like last night's, Theron's tribute show last March at WORLD CAFE LIVE, and honestly every single show are what have kept us going through the years. So on behalf of the Blue Method, I offer everlasting LOVE and GRATITUDE to all of our f(riends)ans for always showing up, showing out, and sticking around to say hello at every gig. After almost 10 years, it still is only the beginning and we have so much more for you!

MY MY HOW TIME FLIES!!!

Meth-heads, Funkateers, Blue-Boos and all other titles, LONG TIME NO TALK!!! It's amazing how much has happened in the past year since I last blogged. Where else to begin than the beginning....

First off, so sorry I haven't been able to keep everybody up to to date with all of our comings and goings...I PROMISE TO DO BETTER!! A lot of changes have been made in the Blue Method, but rest assured that we are not going ANYWHERE. Special thanks to ALL 600 OF YOU that came out to World Cafe Live last month for yet another spectacular sold-out night. It was a special evening indeed as we paid tribute to our #1 drummer THERON SHELTON; his entire family was in the house and sincerely thanks all of YOU (his "Other Family," pun intended lol) for sharing so much positive love and support for them and us!

Secondly...NEW MUSIC!!! You got a taste of some new goodies on VOLUME LIVE....this summer we'll be hard at work at putting together a NEW ALBUM for you all! Expect to see some new music previews at all of our upcoming shows, make sure you're in attendance when we hit your city to say hi and give us your feedback!

Let's see what else....ah yes, you may notice a few new faces with us! We thank our good friend CHARLIE PATIERNO for stepping up and rocking with us on drums for the past year, GOOD TIMES INDEED! As Charlie moves on to explore some new musical opportunities, we like to welcome another friend of ours JOE TRUGLIO to the Blue Method. Joe might be familiar to some of you already; he's a WORLD-RENOWNED drummer and musician, great Philadelphia talent and has already sat in with us on numerous occasions! We are extra excited to have him in the fold, be sure to come out and welcome him to the family!

GREETINGS FANS AND FRIENDS!!!

It's no secret that the pain we've been been feeling has been beyond difficult for us and the Shelton family. It's with the greatest sincerity that THE BLUE METHOD and THERON'S FAMILY thank the fans for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. For all of you that came to the funeral, have written, called, bumped our music and come out to support....WE THANK YOU!! It means so much to us when our fans stand by us as FRIENDS!

We're back THIS WEEKEND in Philly to get down at Warmdaddy's! We'll have special guests CHARLIE PATIERNO and JOE TRUGLIO on drums Friday and Saturday. Help continue to support the Blue Method by coming out or going online and purchasing VOLUME LIVE! What it does everybody, is it cold enough for you out there!??? Special thanks to everybody for packing ZENO'S last weekend and extra EXTRA special thanks to my good friend NICK BOCKRATH of HIGHBRID and ropeadope's BODEGA for sitting in and murdering on guitar with us!

As for this week, TBM is dropping the '09 ball on NYC this Saturday at the legendary BLUE NOTE! We're winding down 2008, and we've got to give thanks to all of you for your tremendous support this year! Kill the Music Vol.
2, our sophomore album, has sold beyond the point of control! Not to worry though, we'll have many more in a new LIMITED EDITION PACKAGING very soon!

Speaking of giving thanks, we're heading back up to ZENO'S this weekend to celebrate our new album VOL. LIVE with our State College Friends that made this album possible!!! You won't have to listen too closely to hear you all screaming on it, press your way down to 100 College Ave. Saturday night to hang out with us one mo' 'gin for '08 at our SC ALBUM RELEASE PARTY! Plenty of Vol. LIVE will be available, don't hesitate to holla at us early to reserve your copy!!

All of you hometowners need to not worry, we're rocking MAXINE'S in Trenton tomorrow for a special FREE SHOW! We hit just after Happy Hour, so get your weekend Funk Buzz going with BRIAN in his hometown! Well hello there!!! Bet y'all thought the kid died or something! No such thing, TBM and I have been hard at work all summer working the road and working on (gasp...) VOLUME: LIVE!! Yes indeed folks, our live album is nearing completion and will be available for the first time November 14th at WORLD CAFE LIVE in Philadelphia. This CD release is sure to be one for the record books, especially with the JOSH DION BAND and THE PLUTONICS keeping the party moving with us that night. .....with all the aliens that seemed to follow the JUGGLING SUNS around last night, I was waiting to hear that!

Once again we have to thank all the fans that made it out to World Cafe Live last night to help us support the Juggling Suns. Special thanks to JS for wanting to include us with BODEGA and MONACY to make a really awesome show. And thanks to the crazy videos playing all night, I now know the consequences of setting a firecracker off in my ass. Yikes, brain-tarnishing....

WHAT A WEEKEND.....

Zeno's, I hope you're a woman, because we're getting married!!! Man oh man, it's our first weekend without hitting 50 places in like 5 minutes so we actually got a chance to rest and chill out between shows...and they happened to be some of the best shows I've ever witnessed in Blue Method history!

I've already listened to some rough mixes of the shows, and they turned out PHENOMINAL!!! The crowd sounds spectacular (the band was okay too! haha), and we can't thank you all enough for coming out and supporting on one or both nights! Thanks to the all the folks that especially came from 4 and 5 hours away just to be a part of things. Of course we have to thank DAVE, JENNA (aww, miss you already girly), MARCUS, JESSICA, AJ, and the entire ZENO'S/HOTEL STATE COLLEGE/ALLEN STREET GRILL staff for always taking great care of us.

We've already begun mixing the shows, so they will definitely be available by the summer....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand keep your eyes peeled to YouTube for some exclusive video footage from Saturday night!!! Now if you'll excuse me, I have some World Cafe Live show preparing to do!! See you Philly folks and Mega-Method Heads tomorrow!!

p.s. - Johnston gets the MEGA-FAN award for the week for a display in the hotel kind of similar to THIS....

3 STATES IN 36 HOURS!!!

The way we've been avoiding sleep, you'd think it had cooties man!

Blue Method is wrapping up yet another crazy travelling weekend: New York City, Swarthmore University, and Arlington, VA, in less than two fulls days! Deliriousness has set in, I'll try to recap without losing my mind!!!

So Friday we hit up the beautiful HIGHLINE BALLROOM to help the Josh Dion Band celebrate the release of their new album (GET THAT SON!!). Special thanks to JDB for including us in a great night of music and to DEREK JAMES and 7 CASS DILLON for sharing the stage with us. And of course I can't forget my peoples for partying with us late into the night (i'll forget some, but I love you all!!): Jesse (you wreck another car this time?), Tejas, Zack, Meggem, Little Pete (ha!), Krazy Karl (of course)...and all the rest of you guys, old friends and new!!

So we trekked back to the Philly area to hit up SWARTHMORE U for the third year (I guess they like us, we love y'all too!!!). Special thanks to PARI and Emily for always bringing us back and taking great care of us. And we can't forget Sarah and Theron's firefighting hands for a memorable intro!

Then was the highlight of my weekend...heading down to WHITLOWS ON WILSON!!!!! Thanks to the entire staff for always taking care of us and being just as excited (if not more!) as the fans about our music. Once again Brian got housed by the gorgeous and talented LISA LOCKE on the vocals...don't worry B, it's just motivation!

It's always a pleasure to hit up this spot: it's one of the rare occassions my beaufiul MOM AND DAD get to come out and see me play!!! My pop always sits right up front, motorized scooter in full blast, and my Momma gets up and dances and sings the night away! The Whitlows staff has a special place with us because they ALWAYS remember my parents and clear tables and chairs away for my Pop's wheelchair BEFORE he even shows up! Special thanks to my sis Colette, my brother/cousin Kheli, Auntie (awww), Christina and crew, Miss Sandra and Freddy, Mary Lou and Dave, Stephanie and that huge posse she brought, and all the other regulars who ALWAYS bring new folks!

When I'm sleepy I ramble. I think there's some kind of a CD RECORDING THIS WEEKEND AT ZENOS, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.....who knows, maybe I'm just loopy!!!

Don't ask what's keeping me awake for this blog after this crazy weekend the Method had! With all this new song business and new album (!!!) planning I've been way too crazy to keep everybody up to speed on our happenings!!

We had a great weekend that had absolutely nothing to do with a good night's sleep, treking from Vermont to Penn State then back home again in less than 48 hours! Special thanks to the Manchester Bar and Grill for having us at the 8 Days in April festival. It was our first time in the city and we loved every minute of it, especially our special "gifts" left to the Josh Dion Band. Definitely gotta "Give Love" (pun) to the JDB for hanging out with us in Vermont and all the other great bands for sticking around and partying with us. And of course we can never forget the illustrious Queen Royal for making a 3 hour trip to help keep our spirits up!

After a great show is always a few hours of relaxation and warm showers, right? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The Method doesn't sleep, and with a bang full of balls to the wall gangsters like this one hot showers are for losers! We take our showers ICE COLD then pile into the Navi for a nice quick trip down to State College at 2 a.m. baby!

Weary means nothing to us once again. We kept the energy up after that 8 hour drive to get down with hundreds of fans, old and new, for the Movin' Up festival at Penn State. Thanks to Megan and all the other staff for really taking excellent care of us all afternoon and for putting on an extremely well-run and professional event! And of course we were honored to be in the presence of lots of great acts like Raekwon the Chef, Say Anything, Vedera and several others...a spectacular event indeed.

Okay, so now the Method gets to rest? NOOOOOOOOO!!!! After a few pit stops at some of our favorite S.C. spots like JAMAICA JUNCTION and OTTOS we decide to keep the party movin' and head on home...all in a weekend'd work!

Whew...after a run like that you'd think we'd cool it for a week or so. You might as well forget it....we've got another HUGE weekend coming up! Friday night marks the release of the Josh Dion Band's new CD at the HIGHLINE BALLROOM in NYC, featuring us taking the stage at 11:30 to help them celebrate! Check out our page and the JDB site for advance ticket information...this show will be packed and is not one to miss!

Okay, my vision is getting blurry so maybe I'll take a nap now...see you all on Friday and on the road!

Oh, What a Night....

WOW....that's pretty much all the kid can say about World Cafe' Live last night! I'd say people missed an excellent night of music, but apparently not many of you missed it as we sold out WCL yet again!!! As always, I want to personally thank each and every one of you that came out last night and supported the show, you all make our nights everytime with that!

The place got filled early with folks searching for tables and thirsting for every bit of music they could possibly hear. Many many MANY thanks to Natural Selections for opening up everything (somehow I got drafted into being the show host!! It's the shoes I tell you, THE SHOES!). These special ladies and their band really set things off well for the evening, off the bat the crowd knew it was going to be a great night.

Fresh off three days of travel and braving some rough weather coming down, the Josh Dion Band took the stage and tore the house down! I was honored to be able to introduce these guys (and gal) as well, but nothing I could have said could prepare newcomers and old fans of their's alike for the energy and music they brought to us. Plus I found out Pat wrote my FAVORITE JDB song, so he's my new hero. Pat rocks, yeah.....

Oh yeah, these Blue Method guys played last, ever heard of them? I thought you had!! It was a GREAT vibe and tons of fun hitting that stage after these two amazing bands, so great we had to keep their energy with us all night! Thanks to Topaz and Alecia of Natty Selections for helping us out with background vocals, you two are the best! And of course special thanks to Josh and Sarah....and Big Mike, and a bunch of other people (lol) for coming out with us for an encore performance of "Up on Cripple Creek," that was definitely the greatest ending to such a great night!

I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally for coming out, but 550 names are a lot! ONCE AGAIN, THANKS TO EVERYBODY THAT BOUGHT TICKETS AND STAYED ALL NIGHT TO PARTY WITH US...AND SUPER SPECIAL THANKS TO THE JOSH DION BAND AND NATURAL SELECTIONS FOR HONORING US WITH YOUR PRESENCE AND MUSIC!!!! Stay tuned kids, last night is just a preview of things to come....

Rah's One Year Anniversary at Zeno's!!

And Up North is Freezing Cold....

I think I've thawed out enough after this weekend...man oh man is Lake Placid and Burlington cold! But your boy Rah and Blue Method will pull through as always. Big thanks to the all the folks at the Whiteface Ski Center for a great show Friday afternoon and congrats to all the Freestyle winners from all over the world.

And as usual Nectar's was the real party spot of Burlington! Big thanks to Justin and all the staff at Nectar's for the great sound and all the trimmings. Thanks also to the Bill Owens Five and Bob and Will for sharing the stage with us. But the biggest thanks go to all the fans and newcomers that came and PACKED Nectar's through all the snow and brutally cold wind to party with us until 2 in the morning! You all make the long trips worthwhile and fun, it's great to see you all and have a minute to chat and share a drink!

Aiight, I'm still cold from my One-Year Anniversary snowball pelting...we're rocking Zeno's Saturday, and the anniversary celebration is still on and poppin'!!!

Never Fails!

Wow, nothing can bring back morale to The Blue Method like a new band member coupled with a show at State Colleges best live music venue... Zenos. Yes its small and extremely hot, but for some reason this little room has been home to some of our most memorable performances as a band. Actually, I know the reason.....Its the fans. Time and time again Zenos fills up with Blue Method faith fulls that provide us with such an amazing amount of energy and feedback. We cant thank you guys enough.

After the show, we headed to the after hours spot to play for another 2 hours. The after party was crazy as always, and it left all of us dead tired the next day for long the drive home. We would like to thank our friends in the band "The Man" for putting us up and providing equipment for us to play on at the after party. Check them out if you get a chance.

All right. So, for the past two months The Blue Method has been in hiding. We have been basically doing two things: Finishing the new record, and breaking in our newest member. Lets start with the "newest member" thing. For those of you who dont know, we got a new bass player. He would be the gentleman standing stage left whose hair is liable to smack you in the lip or knock the drink you just paid 6.00$ for across the club. If this happens, dont be a hater....you were standing too close. Anyway, his name is Rodney, but you nor I are allowed to call him that. He goes by Rah Sungee...not quite sure why. Rodney is a respectable name, its a perfectly good name. But as long as hes in this band, Rah it is. Ya gotta respect his wishes. The good news is Rah is one sick bass player. You'll see.. his tone alone adds a so much to the band. Its hard to find a bass player with good tone these days. Not to mention he has a ton of chops and great feel for the "pocket". He's a perfect fit...you guys are sure to love him.

As for the new record. Its done. Thats right....FINISHED!! Well, almost. As we speak, it is in the process of getting mastered, which means you will be able to get your hands on it soon.

Oh, next show your at, you'll notice something a little different about the band. Check out the "other" guitar player filling out the sound. Thats right, our own T.Long has stepped up and began playing some firerce rhythm guitar. So when hes playing a little sax, he will be playing a little guitarwith yours truly . Look at Tommy...all grownsed up and doing the town. Anyway, we are heading back to our favorite places to play ever this week end....Zenos at State College. We'll be sure to let you know how it turns out.
